Every once in a while we ‘like’ a customer’s site so much that we feature it on one of our platforms. Today’s favorite is the alternative to the plastic dog cone, the Cuddle Cone^TM.

The soft dog e-collar “cuddles” your dog’s head with a soft foam and lined on the inner side with fleece and the outer shell is a designer fabric instead of the rigid kind making this product a great plastic cone alternative. Currently these are available for retail online.

In the increasingly fast paced world of Social Media, we sometimes get behind. Yes it’s been nearly a whole month since our last post in this blog. Do we have a pulse? Yes, whew! As simple as this new media is to work with (That is, once it’s integrated properly, installed in the right place, designed for a nice look and feel, etc., etc.), it’s still hard to sit down and write about anything that pops up. There’s just so much other work to be done over the course of a day.

In the spirit of ‘Social’ and the idea of networking through these channels… I recently received a link request from a local event planner Connelly & Co. Celebrations who uses our flowers and supply products. I spent a few minutes reviewing the site linked to above to make sure the ‘referring’ site was relevant to what we do, etcetera (googlespeak) and replied that yes, we do accept links to our website from clients, customers and fans of Wholesale Flowers. I love it when we start to build a following. I really liked the work that I saw there so I spent a while longer checking it out once I got home. Very nice event planning design and presentation all around.

Speaking of ‘Fans’, we have implemented a Facebook presence to improve our ‘connection’ with clients and customers. Become a fan here.

We also try to ‘tweet’ daily regarding the state of things here. Sales? Specials? Closeouts? Interesting readings or posts online. Certainly Twitter allows us to quickly post that information, albeit in a limited amount of characters. I really like that concept and it’s much easier to maintain than feeling like 200-300 words is a post worth reading. Follow us on Twitter if you’d like.

My vote is (right now) for the TweetDeck application. My current, favorite Social Media tool/app.

Floral Centerpieces

At Wholesale Flowers, our floral designers are some of the best in San Diego and we have added a ‘bunch’ of floral arrangements to our site recently to display our work.

While each of these arrangements are subject to the flowers available in season and the vase or container we may have in stock, the designs are quite beautiful and are offered at very affordable prices.

If you’ve ever received flowers in the mail, you probably received them shipped overnight within a day or so of your wedding/special event. Still, here are some steps to ensure your flowers stay fresh and looking their best until then, even if it’s a few days away.

**For generally long lasting flowers once you’ve had the arrangements made, re-cut the stems once or twice a week.

1. Remove flowers from box by cutting any straps and also remove all paper and plastic packaging covering the stems of the flowers. Do not remove the rubber bands holding the flowers together. Leave these on for the first 4 hours, or if you wish, until you are ready to start arranging flowers.
2. Fill containers with at least 4 inches of fresh, cool water.
3. Cut stems diagonally approximately a half an inch from the stem’s bottom under running water with sharp scissors or knife.
4. Immediately after cutting, place the stems in the prepared water.
5. Allow flowers at least 4 hours to hydrate well.
6. Keep flowers away from direct sunlight, drafts or excessive heat.
7. Change water every 24 hours to keep flowers fresh. Assure that your flowers have sufficient water as the flowers will drink an exceptionally large amount of water upon arrival, especially during these warmer months.
